ADULT MINISTRY

Adults ministry at Redemption Hill Church revolves around the study of Scripture together, often in single-gender groups. God has promised to work in us, sanctifying us and transforming us through the "renewal of the mind." This spiritual work is done by the Holy Spirit applying the Word of God, so that our thoughts and desires are more and more like Christ, and less and less like our fallen self. We want to see adults in all seasons of life, whether just starting out or approaching the final years, continue to grow in grace.

Single Gender Emphasis.

We often do our adult ministry in single gender groups. We do that for two reasons:

Most adults will hesitate to share more personal matters with adults of the opposite gender.
In the church, the Bible instructs older women to teach younger women, but not to teach men.

Our approach to adult ministry ensures that we are obedient to Scripture on both accounts.

Interpreted into ASL

As much as possible, we provide interpretation into ASL so that Deaf members and attendees can benefit from all the ministries of the church. Throughout the calendar year, we also offer ASL-only Bible Studies taught by Associate Pastor Roddey Caughman.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT STUDY: The first three Wednesdays of each month (of the school year), there is an adult study from 6:30-7:45pm. Typically we study a book of the Bible, taught by one of the pastors--but this Fall we are studying Biblical Parenting. This is part of the NightLife ministry, which also has groups for students of all ages meeting at the same time.
DISCIPLESHIP GROUPS: These groups are single-gender groups of 3-5 adults. They meet the 2nd and 4th weekends of the month, some on Saturday, most on Sunday after church. Each group takes time to read the Scripture passage being preached on that weekend, and then using the group guides created by our pastors, studies the word, shares places in their life where they want to grow in obedience or repentance, and prays for one another.
YOUNG ADULT GROUP: Most Sundays after church, young adults meet from 11:30-12:30pm. This group is led by Bob Conrad, one of our Ruling Elders, and reads a variety of Christian books.
MONTHLY BREAKFASTS: The first Saturday of each month from 9:00-10:30am, the men and women alternate having breakfast and a lesson together. On the months when the women men, the men prepare and serve the food (and clean up!), and then the next month the women serve the men. We typically eat for thirty minutes, and then spend the last hour learning from that month's teacher and praying together.
SUMMER STUDIES: Most summers, our Women and Men have separate Bible studies that meet either in homes or at the church, depending on the size of the group and the time of the study.
